Further information on the ECOLINE

Base frame

The base frame has a reinforced frame and is therefore ideally suited for strong and heavy logs. The base plates of the supports connect the frame to the reinforced frame and thus create great stability. As all base plates are identical, level plates and log rollers can be mounted there.

Hydraulics

The log turner is identical to the BN 110 model. A log support arm (half-moon) fitted as standard enables even short logs to be turned effortlessly. The vertical supports are identical in terms of bearing and adjustment options. An additional hand fence enables logs up to 90 cm in length to be sawn. The level compensator with claws moves up and down in specially developed guides, ensuring precise, right-angled movement of the level blade. The claws are pluggable and three brackets are available. This extends the working range to 85-665 mm. A special holder allows the positions of the level and log roller to be changed flexibly.

Saw head

As in the BN 110, we use cast iron rollers with a diameter of 850 mm with large tapered roller bearings. A special oil is used, which is why this bearing is maintenance-free. A wide gap between the bearings ensures that the two cast rollers are moved absolutely parallel. The protective covers can be opened upwards on both sides. This makes it easy to change the saw blade.

The copper scrapers are positioned in such a way that the sawdust is immediately discharged to the outside and does not fall onto the saw blade. Generously dimensioned felt pads keep the cast iron wheel clean and distribute the lubricant evenly. All copper scrapers and felt pads work with gravity. This prevents malfunctions in the event of defective springs.

Blade guidance

The saw blade is guided precisely by two adjustable Chaco guides. The material of the blocks is very low-wear and has been used successfully for decades in large vertical log band saws. The guide itself is very stable and is welded to the band guide arm and not bolted. This prevents the guide from moving in the event of incorrect operation.

Saw head control

With the joystick, the saw head of our log band saw can be moved in all four directions (forward-backward-up-down) with one hand. We use a frequency converter for the infinitely variable feed. This allows the feed speed to be very finely controlled.

Oil lubrication

The oil lubrication for the cast wheels and the band saw blade is automatically switched on by a solenoid valve when the main engine is started. The quantity can be precisely metered via a valve.

Water lubrication

When cutting resinous wood (e.g. larch), the use of water has proven to be the best way to keep the saw blade clean. This is easily possible with the water lubrication system fitted as standard. It works in the same way as oil lubrication.

Positioning control

The positioning control is fitted as standard and is used to set the desired cutting thickness. This works faster and more precisely than positioning the saw head by hand.

Your questions
our answers

A general distinction is made between diameters and cutting widths. The diameter is the maximum dimension of the trunk. The height of a trunk can be greater than its width, as the roots can grow on one side. We have different types of saws. Our largest saw has a passage of 140 x 160 cm. The cutting width indicates the width up to which a board can be sawn. With our types Z140 and Z160, 125 cm is possible.

In the stationary sector, all cutting lengths are generally possible. For mobile saws, however, the road traffic regulations (StVO) regarding length, turning circle and other aspects must be observed. For one customer, for example, we have manufactured a saw with a cutting length of 30 m for special applications. Shorter cutting lengths from 40 cm can also be realized at the customer’s request.

This is the most frequently asked question, but also the most difficult to answer, as many factors play a role. Important influencing factors are the dimensions of the logs and, in particular, the dimensions of the sawn timber. The type of log processing, whether manual or automatic, and the number of helpers are also decisive. After numerous discussions with our customers, who saw a wide variety of assortments, we consider an average daily output of 20 to 30 solid cubic meters to be realistic.

Yes, many of our customers are on the move and saw the wood on site.

The throughput width is significantly greater: while a frame saw is usually limited to 70 cm, a band saw can reach up to 160 cm.

At 2 mm, the kerf is significantly narrower with the band saw than with the gang saw (4-5 mm), which results in less material loss. This can mean about one more board per log.

As only one board is sawn at a time, the quality can be checked after each cut. As a result, the trunk is optimally utilized both qualitatively and quantitatively.

In order to saw different sawn timber dimensions, the saw blades must be mounted in a different position on the sash gang saw. This involves a great deal of work. Each dimension can be cut individually with the log band saw.
